2010 TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Senior Tournament
There were 24 entries, including all the league’s top players, in the Premier Singles. The final was contested between Alan Stone and Ed Martin, with Stone coming out on top. Alan and Ed then paired up to win the senior doubles, defeating defending champions John Crabtree & Vince Jackson in the final. Martin Reading & Emma Kirby beat the brother/sister pairing of Joe & Becky Seal to win the mixed doubles final. The restricted singles final was played out by Matt Gillard & Emma Kirby, with Emma coming out on top in an entertaining match. Emma then went on to win the ladies singles, winning all of her games in the round robin of 5. Jackie Crook, also unbeaten in her group, finished runner. The veterans was another very close contest with the top 2 seeds, Mike Crook & Ed Martin, both scraping through their groups in second place. Despite that they went on to meet in the final with Ed going one better than in the morning Premier Single’s event by beating Crook in a tight 5 setter.

Junior Tournament
The Junior events were well attended
with a total of 27 entries. The under 11
boys had the most entries and some closely contested games, culminating in an
entertaining final between Glenn Daly and Alex Selway, Glenn taking the top spot.
Glenn also took the honours in the Under 13’s by beating Jack Cross. The Under
13 Girls saw Chloe Arlow beat Jess Webb and in the Under 15 girls competition Clare Sykes
beat the U13 girls finalists to take the title. The Under 15 boys resulted in a
win for Tim Webb over Zach Denton, while in the Under 18 girl’s competition
Becky Seal beat Holly Clark. The Under 18 Boys was a thrilling competition: the
first semi-final was between two brothers Jack & Matt Gillard, which went
the distance with Jack being victorious 13-11 in the 5th. The second semi-final, between Tim Webb &
Jack Cross, also went to the fifth as Tim edged it 11-8. After such tight semis
the final predictably went the distance with Jack edging out Tim 11-7 in the 5th.
The final event was the closely contested Junior Doubles between Tim Webb &
Matt Gillard, who beat Jack Gillard & Jack Prior.
